Primary Ladies on Rainy Day - From the Diary of Melinee Fernandez, Librarian
We had a wonderful author visit this morning with Alejandra Bunster. She introduced her new book, The Bird that forgot how to Fly goes to the Everglades. The third graders were delighted with the second book in her series, Fairytales from Historic Florida. From deciphering nautical codes to learning educational facts on South Florida's history and nature, the students captured the message of the importance of peace, joy, love, and light! Mrs. Bunster explained the art of collage and the students were able to have a close up look as the collage artwork was spread out gallery style. Because of the rainy weather, the students invaded the high school library to cozy up in comfortable chairs, spread out on the floor, group together at tables, and extend the activity by using the book's creative alphabet writing game. They were very excited to have the time to bring their ideas and imagination to fruition as they created an array of stories.
I have shared the pictures.
