NHS Timeline of Events Spring 2015
March 11, 2015 Eligible students will be sent an email with an invitation to apply for membership in the Carrollton Chapter of the National Honor Society with a link to a webpage explaining the process with reminders and including all necessary documents for download, to be completed.
March 20, 2015 (deadline) All forms are due to Ms. Rand in Founders Library.
March, 2015 Grade point averages, service hours, outstanding leadership forms, and candidate forms will be reviewed by the Carrollton National Honor Society Advisor and Carrollton Faculty Council to identify students that meet the qualifications for membership.
March, 2015 Final selections will be made and invitations for the National Honor Society Induction Ceremony will be sent.

More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those Sophomores, Junior, and Senior students who have demonstrated excellence in
the areas of
Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character
1. Eligible students will be sent an email notifying them of their eligibility :
Sophomores, who have maintained a weighted cumulative GPA of 3.833 or higher; and any Junior or Senior, who have maintained a weighted cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher is eligible for nomination into the National Honor Society.
2. All qualifying students will be invited to review the application process and determine if they feel they can meet the Leadership, Service, and Character components of the application.
3. By March 20, 2015, (deadline) all students wishing to be considered for membership will submit completed forms to Ms. Rand in Founders Library.
Students will meet the grade level, enrollment, grade point average, leadership, service standards, and will submit the items listed in the Candidate Form to be eligible for consideration.

5. All forms will be submitted for review by the Faculty Advisor and Faculty Council.
6. By March 27, 2015, all students will be informed of the Council's decision.
7. On April 22, 2015, students will be inducted into the National Honor Society.
DUTIES OF NHS OFFICERS Section 1- There shall be four officers consisting of a president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer for a term of one year. The officers and chapter advisor(s) will be referred to as the executive committee. Section 2- The President shall have the following duties: • Attend all executive committee meetings • Run general membership meetings 2 • Coordinate and participate in service projects • Oversee all general membership committees • Prepare with vice-president, secretary, and treasurer the end-of-year reports • Give a speech on scholarship at induction ceremony Section 3- The Vice-president shall have the following duties: • Attend all executive committee meetings and general membership meetings • Take duties of president if she cannot fulfill them • Begin all meetings with a prayer • Maintain National Honor Society bulletin board • Participate in NHS sponsored service projects • Notify school and local media of all National Honor Society activities • Prepare end-of-year reports with president, secretary and treasurer • Give speech on leadership at induction ceremonyiSection 4- The Secretary shall have the following duties: • Attend all executive committee meetings and general membership meetings • Keep detailed minutes of meetings. • Record member attendance at National Honor Society events and meetings. • Maintain files of membership and chapter history. • Remind members of upcoming service projects and participate in NHS sponsored service projects • Prepare reports as necessary • Collect and record service cards from members each quarter • Give speech on character at induction ceremony • Prepare end-of-year report with president, vice-president, and treasurer Section 5- The Treasurer shall have the following duties: • Attend all executive committee meetings and general membership meetings • Participate in NHS sponsored service projects • Collect chapter dues and fees • In conjunction with advisor(s) keep accurate account records. • Prepare financial information as needed • Prepare end-of-year reports with president, vice-president, and secretary. • Give speech on service at induction ceremony
ELECTION OF NHS OFFICERS Section 1- Candidacy- In order to be considered a candidate for office in the National Honor Society, a person must meet the following criteria: • Be a member of the Junior Class • Be a member in good standing for one year and have completed all general membership requirements. • Adhere to the Carrollton School National Honor Society Code of Ethics.
