Author Visits : Eva Chen

Roxy the Last Unisaurus Rex

by Eva Chen  (Author), Matthew Rivera  (Illustrator)

Students had a fun virtual visit with Instagram superstar and New York Times bestselling author of Juno Valentine and the Magical Shoes, Eva Chen. Her new picture book, Roxy the last unisaurus Rex is a venture of Jurassic proportions, vibrantly brought to life by Matthew Rivera's rainbow watercolors. Students enjoyed meeting the character, Roxy, in all her sassy, steak-loving, glittery glory as she learned about the importance of staying true to yourself, celebrating your differences, and finding friends who love you for you.

BORROW ME!

Sandra Neil Wallace

Borrow me!
Our Montessori and Primary students had a virtual author visit from acclaimed children’s book author, Sandra Neil Wallace.  In her picture book biography, Marjory Saves the Everglades, she brings the inspiring story of journalist and activist, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, to young readers. They learned that she got the National Park Service to declare the Everglades as the first national park created not for the benefit of humans, but for the plants and animals that live there.  The students conducted research before the visit and with this national treasure in our backyard, the students brought their insights and had a wonderful exchange with the author.   The library made a donation on behalf of the students from the book sales to the Friends of the Everglades which was also formed by Marjory Stoneman Douglas.
